Over 100 Grams Of Fentanyl Seized, SF Man Arrested In Traffic Stop: Police

A suspicious car stop led to the arrest of two men and the recovery of suspected fentanyl and over $5,000 in cash, police said.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A traffic stop by deputies in unincorporated San Mateo County early Tuesday morning resulted in the arrest of a San Francisco man and the seizure of over 100 grams of fentanyl, police said.

At around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies said they stopped a suspicious car near the intersection of Skyline Boulevard and Bunker Hill Drive, and they immediately observed drug paraphernalia inside the car.

The driver, identified as 40-year-old David C. Dutton of San Francisco, was found to have two active warrants related to drug sales, deputies said. Police searched the car and found more than 100 grams of suspected fentanyl packaged in multiple containers, hundreds of suspected fentanyl pills, over $5,000 in cash, additional drug paraphernalia and an imitation firearm, police said.

Dutton and his passenger, 55-year-old Alexis Coombs of Stockton, were both arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility, police said.

They face multiple felony charges, including possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance for sale, fentanyl weight enhancement, and possession of drug paraphernalia, deputies said.
