SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A woman who police described as a "prolific thief" has been arrested on suspicion of burglarizing several gym lockers across San Francisco over the course of five months, police said.
Police say that from November 2025 to March, Andrania Yancy, 40, would visit gyms or fitness studios, get a day pass under a false name and then break into lockers to steal credit cards. She'd then use the cards before the victims knew, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
Following a months-long investigation in which the SFPD worked with a fitness studio in the Marina District, investigators identified Yancy as a suspect in the thefts.
She was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force in Sacramento on Monday in connection with the thefts.
Yancy has ties to the Bay Area and has stay-away orders from multiple fitness businesses in San Francisco, police said.
She also had nine warrants for burglaries committed across the East Bay and Southern California, police said.
SFPD asks that anyone who may have more information related to these thefts contact the agency at 415-575-4444.
