When officers arrived at the scene around 5:21 a.m., they found a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

Despite efforts by emergency personnel to save their life, the person died at the scene, police said. Their identity has yet to be publicly released.

Through an investigation, detectives identified Chagniot as a suspect and developed enough probable cause for an arrest, police said.

Chagniot was located and taken into custody on Thursday on suspicion of murder. Investigators also seized evidence connected with the shooting at the suspect's home, police said.

It's unclear whether Chagniot and the victim knew each other before the shooting.
