Attacker In Violent Beating, Robbery Of Man In SF Convicted: DA

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A man who beat and robbed another man in San Francisco last year has been convicted for his role in the attack, prosecutors said.

A jury found David Wallace, 36, guilty of robbery, along with the allegations that he had been previously convicted of a strike-eligible offense, suffered numerous prior felony convictions, had previously served terms in state prison and that he was on parole at the time this incident occurred, according to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office.

Wallace beat and robbed the man outside a corner store at Fifth and Shipley streets in San Francisco's SOMA neighborhood on Oct. 29, 2025, prosecutors said.

The man was leaving the store when Wallace threw him to the ground, punched him repeatedly, went through his pockets and stomped on him, prosecutors said.

The man stayed on the ground, trying to protect his head, prosecutors. Only after the attackers left did he realize they had stolen his wallet and other items, prosecutors said.

"I would like to thank the jury for their service in this trial," District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said in a statement Thursday. "My office will continue to do everything we can to hold those who break our laws accountable and protect the safety of residents, workers and visitors who should be able to enjoy our city without fear of being robbed or beaten."

Wallace is due back in court on June 17 for sentencing.
