In the article, Almeida referred to the Bay Area as “Jollibee heaven,” citing its large Filipino community and noting the Philippines-based chain, known for its signature fried chicken and spaghetti, “is an absolute icon within that community.”

“I was familiar with Jollibee because my operator, who has been with me for close to 20 years, would always bring Jollibee food to our meetings,” Almeida said in the article. “She's Filipino and grew up with it. When I saw they were expanding, I told her about the franchise opportunity and she was so excited and recommended that we look into it.”

Almeida has previously been a franchisee for Fuddruckers and Dave’s Hot Chicken, according to the article.

Jollibee has just over 100 locations in North America, according to its website.
