SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A kite surfer in distress was rescued Thursday near the Golden Gate Bridge after a coordinated response by the U.S. Coast Guard, San Francisco Fire Department and San Francisco Police Department.
The rescue involved Coast Guard crews, San Francisco firefighters and an SFPD drone, which helped responders locate and monitor the kite surfer during the operation.
Officials said the kite surfer was safely rescued along with the help of a good samaritan. Additional details about the person's condition or what caused the emergency were not immediately available.
The San Francisco Police Department shared the video of the rescue on social media, showing crews working together to bring the kite surfer to safety near the iconic bridge.
The incident remains under investigation.
