SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Police say they arrested 76 people during a drug enforcement operation across San Francisco focused on finding fugitives with outstanding warrants.

The operation on Wednesday took place in several San Francisco districts, including the Tenderloin and Mission, police said.

Of the 76 arrested, 57 had warrants out for their arrest, the San Francisco Police Department said. Officers also seized 85.3 grams of drugs and a gun during the operation, authorities said.

Aside from finding fugitives with outstanding warrants, the operation is meant to "disrupt narcotic sales and drug markets in the city," police said.

"We will continue to prioritize efforts to address the drug crisis in our city by taking wanted suspects off our streets and holding individuals who sell illegal narcotics accountable," police said.

A separate enforcement in May led to the arrest of 62 people, including 52 fugitives with warrants. That enforcement also targeted the same districts.
