SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A San Francisco Sheriff's deputy was charged with battery Monday after being accused of touching an inmate's breast at a county jail in 2025.
Nanette Musto, 51, is also facing a misdemeanor count of assault by a public officer stemming from the incident at San Francisco County Jail No. 2 on July 12, 2025, according to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors say Nanette Musto, 51, had heard rumblings about a female inmate in the jail who had her body surgically augmented.
She asked the inmate about the surgery, and when the inmate answered, the 51-year-old deputy reached out and touched her breasts without permission, prosecutors said.
The incident, prosecutors say, was captured on jail surveillance footage, and left the inmate feeling "humiliated and embarrassed," prosecutors said.
Although charges have been filed, the case remains active, police said. Police ask that anyone with more information about the case contact the San Francisco Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Unit at 415-558-4411.
