Ex-Deputy Told Inmate 'No One Would Believe Her' After Sexual Assault In SF County Jail: DA

This is the second former deputy charged with sexual misconduct this week.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A former San Francisco County Sheriff's deputy has been charged in connection with the sexual assault of a transgender woman jailed at a county facility last year, prosecutors said.

Damon Jones, 34, was working as a peace officer at San Francisco County Jail No. 2 when he told the woman to follow him to the gym on Sept. 11, 2025.

There, Jones told her to perform oral sex on him, and she complied, prosecutors said.

The woman would later tell detectives that she felt "scared and intimidated" by Jones, prosecutors.

That after giving Jones oral sex, he told her to "shut up, that no one would believe her, and not to tell anyone or he "would roll her up" to another pod where she'd be unsafe, prosecutors said.

Video surveillance footage shows Jones and the woman going down jail hallways, entering the gym alone and walking into a bathroom stall together, prosecutors said.

Less than two minutes later, the woman reappears on video coming out of the stall, prosecutors said, adding that she can be seen reaching into her sock, pulling out a plastic bag and spitting into it.

Jones follows and returns her to her jail pod, prosecutors said.

In the bag, according to prosecutors, was Jones' sperm, which the victim had saved after he ejaculated, prosecutors said.

The woman gave that bag to her attorney, who took it to a crime lab, prosecutors said.

Tests would come back positive for Jones, who prosecutors announced on Friday would face charges of engaging in sexual activity with a confined adult while acting as a peace officer employed in a public detention facility and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime.

Prosecutors say that although charges have been filed, the case remains under investigation.

This is also the second former deputy to be charged with sexual misconduct this week.

Another deputy was charged with battery Monday after prosecutors said she unlawfully touched an inmate's breasts.

"Unfortunately, sometimes we encounter bad actors," San Francisco County District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said on Friday afternoon, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. "I hope that … both of these cases send a message to staff that there is no tolerance for this type of conduct, and that we as law enforcement have the obligation to hold each other accountable when the law is broken and the public’s trust is violated."
