SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A male pedestrian who died after a vehicle struck him in San Francisco earlier this month has been identified by the city's Medical Examiner's Office.
David Reinhart, a 57-year-old San Francisco resident, was identified as the victim of a collision in the city's South of Market neighborhood.
On July 14 at 4:07 a.m., San Francisco police and paramedics responded to a reported vehicle collision in the 200 block of Sixth Street, near Howard Street.
At the scene, paramedics rendered aid and transported Reinhart to a hospital for life-threatening injuries. Reinhart succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Following the collision, the driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
According to pedestrian advocacy nonprofit Walk San Francisco, the July 14 crash marks the second fatality at Sixth and Howard streets in the past year.
On Aug. 10, 2025, a 78-year-old man was killed as a pedestrian near the same area in SoMa.
Both Sixth and Howard streets have been on San Francisco's High Injury Network, considered to be 13% of city streets where 74% of its serious traffic collisions occur, according to Walk SF.
