2 Cats Killed In SF Apartment Fire Caused By Cigarettes: Officials

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Two cats died early Monday morning during an apartment fire near San Francisco's Nob Hill neighborhood, according to authorities.

Fire officials say a fire broke out just after midnight at an apartment complex in the 900 block of Geary Street.

Crews quickly arrived at the scene and worked for more than 40 minutes to contain the blaze, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.

No people were injured or displaced. But two cats were killed in the blaze, fire officials said.

Fire officials say the blaze was started by discarded cigarettes inside an apartment unit.
