SAN FRANCISCO, CA — The sports world can't get enough of the Bay Area.
Major League Baseball announced Friday morning that Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, will host the 2028 All-Star Game.
"With its passionate fanbase, world-class ballpark, and rich baseball history, San Francisco will be an outstanding host for All-Star Week, which culminates in one of Major League Baseball's best traditions, the Midsummer Classic," MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement. "We look forward to bringing the excitement of All-Star Week and the celebration of baseball to the Bay Area."
The news comes just weeks after Philadelphia hosted this year's All-Star game. Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, will host in 2027.
The Giants last hosted the 2007 All-Star game, where Seattle Mariners legend Ichiro Suzuki hit the first — and to this day the only — inside the park homerun in the midsummer classic's history. Suzuki went on to win the All-Star Game MVP that year.
All-Star Week activities include the Home Run Derby, the Futures Game and the MLB Draft.
It's been a good year to be a sports fan in the Bay Area, as the region hosted Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara in February.
The Bay Area also hosted multiple World Cup games this summer. The NBA All-Star game was also hosted in the Bay Area in 2025.
