SAN BRUNO, CA — A 22-year-old San Francisco man died Sunday in a fatal crash after the car he was a passenger in hit a light pole, police said.
Around 1 a.m. on Sunday, officers were called to a solo car crash near the intersection of El Camino Real and the Interstate Highway 380 off-ramp after a car hit a light pole.
Police said both the 29-year-old driver and the 22-year-old passenger sustained serious life-threatening injuries and the passenger later died.
Police said they believe the driver was operating the car under the influent of alcohol or drugs and was arrested suspicion of DUI and booked into jail on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter, DUI causing bodily injury or death and being in possession of a controlled substance, police said.
Police have not released the identities of the driver or the passenger at this time.
