SAN FRANCISCO, CA — For National Police K9 Day, one quirky-looking Bay Area dog stood out among the rest.
Hazel is the San Francisco Police Department's newest K9. But she doesn't apprehend suspects; she provides support as a therapy dog. The department posted photos of Hazel on social media on Wednesday, highlighting her role within the department.

Police say Hazel knows how to "enjoy the little things in life" and once certified will "provide comfort and emotional support to SFPD members when they need it most."
"Sometimes the most important thing a K9 can do is be there," police said. "Four paws. One mission."
