$77K Cash, 2 Kilos Of Cocaine Seized From SF Man In Drug Bust: Police

The man was arrested after undercover detectives said he sold cocaine and ketamine in Marin County.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — A months-long narcotics investigation into a San Francisco man accused of selling cocaine and ketamine in Marin County ended with a major drug seizure, the Marin County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday.

Ian Howerton, 31, of San Francisco, was arrested in Southern Marin last week after agreeing to sell cocaine to undercover detectives, the sheriff's office said.

The investigation began in June, when detectives with the sheriff's office specialized investigative unit, working with the DEA office in San Francisco, began investigating Howerton.

Howerton sold suspected cocaine and ketamine to undercover detectives in Marin County on two separate occasions, according to the sheriff's office.

After Howerton agreed to another cocaine sale last week, detectives arrested him in Southern Marin and served a search warrant at his San Francisco home, police said.

Investigators seized more than $77,000 in cash, an additional $50,000 in a bank account and a BMW, the sheriff's office said.

The search also turned up two kilograms of cocaine, along with quantities of ketamine, ecstasy, Molly and Adderall.

Detectives also seized scales, packaging materials and a kilo wrapper, according to the sheriff's office, police said.

The case remains under investigation.
