Here's What To Know (patch.com) — Bay Bridge commuters heading into San Francisco should brace for stricter CHP enforcement in the bus and carpool lanes at the toll plaza this month. Solo drivers misusing the westbound approach lanes from I-80, I-880 and West Grand could face fines of $490 or more, while true carpools of three or more remain welcome during weekday peak hours.
2. Person, Dog Rescued From Water Near Cove In San Francisco: Officials (patch.com) — Emergency crews in San Francisco pulled a person and a dog from the water near China Beach after reports they were in distress, and both are now safe. The incident, close to the Battery Chamberlain area, came just a day after firefighters rescued two people stranded on a nearby cliff, underscoring recent coastal rescue activity around the city.
3. He ran SF's sheriff oversight board. A city probe found he abused his office (sfstandard.com) — San Francisco residents may soon see the president of the Sheriff's Department Oversight Board removed from office after a city watchdog found he repeatedly used his title for special treatment during police encounters and to contact a hospitalized witness. Supervisor Stephen Sherrill plans to bring official misconduct charges to the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, and removing William Palmer would require support from nine of eleven supervisors.
4. San Francisco sues alleged squatters for 'trying to steal' a luxury Sea Cliff home (sfchronicle.com) — San Francisco's city attorney has filed a civil lawsuit to void allegedly forged deeds and block two people from claiming or selling a $4.4 million Sea Cliff home at 250 32nd Ave. Neighbors say the long-disputed property has brought late‑night activity and repeated police calls, while more than $320,000 in unpaid property taxes have already triggered a tax‑auction process.
5. San Francisco honors the bravery of flight attendant Betty Ong during 9/11 (nbcbayarea.com) — San Francisco's Chinatown community gathered Friday at the Night Market to honor flight attendant and neighborhood native Betty Ong, whose 9/11 phone call helped ground other planes and save lives. Family, friends, and neighbors marked the 25th anniversary of the attacks by celebrating her courage and reflecting on how her calm actions still inspire San Franciscans today.
