SAN FRANCISCO, CA — For the second time this month, a mountain lion was spotted roaming through a San Francisco neighborhood, prompting city officials to issue an alert.
The mountain lion was seen Friday morning near 44th and Ulloa streets, in the Outer Sunset neighborhood, the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management said.
"If you see the mountain lion, slowly back away; do not run," city officials said in an online statement. "If you have a child with you — pick them up — and keep dogs on leash. If the mountain lion approaches — make yourself 'big,' wave your arms, shout, throw something, and again, do not run."

City officials urge anyone who spots the mountain lion to call Animal Care & Control at 415-554-9400.
Earlier this month, someone reported seeing a mountain lion run up a tree near Fell and Baker streets near Golden Gate Park. It's unclear if this is the same mountain lion.
Mountain lions may roam Bay Area parklands but are generally not seen because they avoid humans, according to the East Bay Regional Park District.
Attacks on humans are very rare, "but may cause widespread interest and concern because they are widely publicized," park officials said.
