SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A 72-year-old man was arrested Wednesday afternoon in connection with a stabbing that left one person hospitalized in San Francisco, police said.
Police say the suspect, Larry McDougal, and the victim knew each other, but did not specify the nature of their relationship.
The victim was outside their workplace Wednesday around 2:48 p.m. when McDougal stabbed them and drove away from the area, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
Officers quickly responded to the scene and found the victim with multiple stab wounds, police said.
They then rendered aid until paramedics arrived and took the victim to a local hospital for treatment, police said. Police did not elaborate on the extent of the victim's injuries.
Police later tracked down McDougal with the help of an Automated License Plate Reader, authorities said.
Officers performed a "high-risk vehicle stop" on McDougal and took him into custody on suspicion of aggravated assault, police said.
A motive for the alleged stabbing remains unclear. San Francisco police ask that anyone with more information about the incident contact the department at 415-575-4444. Callers may remain anonymous if they wish, police said.
