SAN FRANCISCO, CA — San Francisco prosecutors on Wednesday charged a woman accused of fatally shooting a man in front of his family outside the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco on Saturday.
Shakia Vanderbilt was charged with murder, discharging a firearm at an occupied building, with an allegation that she intentionally discharged the firearm and caused death and four counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, the San Francisco District Attorney's Office said. She also faces the allegation that she used a firearm in the commission of murder.
The charges stem from the fatal shooting of Ulysses Davis, 47, on Saturday, after the Warfield hosted the reality TV show "Baddies," according to KTVU. Davis was a security guard at the venue, according to the report.
Vanderbilt had been "rowdy" and was being escorted by Davis outside when she shot him in the back, according to KTVU, which spoke with Davis' brother-in-law.
Davis' wife and two of his six children witnessed the shooting, according to the report.
Prosecutors say officers responded to the 900 block of Market Street around 1 a.m. and found a wounded Davis.
Davis was taken to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries and later died, prosecutors said.
On Tuesday, homicide detectives developed probable cause to arrest Vandernilt in connection with Davis' slaying, authorities said.
A GoFundMe campaign, meanwhile, was started to help Davis' family.
"He is a humble man, a loyal and lovely husband, a hard-working father of 6, a wonderful grandfather and one of my best friends," Ice Pao, who started the fundraiser, said. "Due to the tragic events, we lost a great man. He was always humble and put his family first before him. I'm asking if you can show your support and help his family out in this hard time."
As of Thursday morning, the fundraiser has raised $3,349 out of its $11,000 goal.
