SAN FRANCISCO — A stranded kayaker was pulled from the icy water beneath the Bay Bridge's westernmost column after a passerby heard his cries for help.
Multiple 911 callers reported an overturned kayak on Thursday near the Ferry Building.
The San Francisco Police Department deployed its Marine Unit and a drone alongside the San Francisco Fire Department.
Drone officers located the overturned kayak and a paddle.
After a witness reported hearing someone call for help, Marine Unit officers found the man beneath the bridge and pulled him from the water.
Officers safely transferred the kayaker to a Fire Department boat for immediate medical attention.
