SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Two people were hospitalized after a phone exploded and caused a fire at a San Francisco home Monday morning, authorities said.
Residents of the home at 50 Coronado Street told fire crews that the phone was charging when it exploded sometime before 5:50 a.m., according to San Francisco Fire Department Lt. Ken Smith.
It caused an instant fire, Smith said. Crews responding to the scene were met with fire and smoke coming from the back of the home, Smith said.
The fire was contained within 10 minutes of crews arriving, Smith said.
Two people were taken to a hospital for treatment with minor smoke inhalation, Smith said.
