SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Folks walking around San Francisco's North Beach last week may have noticed the city looked decades younger.
While it may seem like a time machine was discovered, those period cars, streetlights, and unfamiliar bar signs are part of a major film production in San Francisco.
"Fog City" is one of many projects being filmed in San Francisco as part of a new incentive to bring more filmmaking to the region.
"Fog City" is a noir film by Dan Pritzker. It takes place in 1930s San Francisco and examines the stories of several people whose lives are interwoven, according to IMDb. No release date has been announced.
Production crews have already shot 30 days in San Francisco, according to Mayor Daniel Lurie, bringing in "north of $30 million poured into our economy."
"We're making San Francisco a place where filmmakers want to bring their stories, while continuing to create new opportunities for our local economy," Lurie said.
Lurie did not say how much longer crews will be filming in the area. But one of the primary venues used for interior shots is Savoy Tivoli, according to SFGate.
The bar predates the film's era, having been open since around 1907, according to SFGate.
