SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Is this your husky?

California Highway Patrol officers in San Francisco are trying to reunite a lost husky with her family after the canine was found running around the southbound US-101 off-ramp at Cesar Chavez Street on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Officers captured the "furry friend" and took her to San Francisco Animal Care and Control, according to the California Highway Patrol.

But capturing the husky was only half the battle. Authorities say that while she was wearing a harness, the husky didn't have tags, making it difficult for animal care officials to reunite her with her family.

"This is a good reminder to ensure your pets are wearing an identification tag in the event they get separated and lost," CHP said. "Hopefully, she will be reunited with her family soon."

The CHP also used the incident to remind drivers to call 911 if they observe any animals roaming on the freeway, including on-ramps and off-ramps.

"Please do not take the chance of exiting your vehicle while traffic continues to maneuver in the area at freeway speeds, putting yourself and the animal in further potential danger," CHP said.
