Panetta Secures Over $1 Million for San Miguel Emergency Operations Center (house.gov) — Federal funding of just over $1 million will help San Miguel build a new Emergency Operations Center alongside the existing fire station, giving local first responders a central hub during disasters. Officials say the project will significantly improve coordination with county and state agencies during wildfires, storms, and other emergencies, and ensure the volunteer fire department can keep pace with the town's growth.
   

• SLO County man charged with murder after fatal shooting (sanluisobispo.com) — A San Miguel woman was fatally shot in her North River Road apartment, and her husband has now been charged with murder, facing a possible life sentence if convicted. Deputies arrested him in Wasco the morning after the shooting, and relatives have launched an online fundraiser to help cover her funeral and memorial costs.
