SAN ANSELMO, CA — Residents can tour the renovated Fire Station 20 and meet the firefighters who work there during a community celebration Saturday.
The open house runs from 10 a.m. to noon at 150 Butterfield Road, according to the town's announcement. Activities include refreshments, station tours and opportunities to see the fire engines.
Mayor Steve Burdo, Fire Chief Dan Mahoney and Town Manager David Donery are scheduled to participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Firefighters have moved back into the renovated station, which is now fully operational, the town said.
Built in 1959 at Butterfield Road and Arroyo Avenue, the station sits over Sleepy Hollow Creek. The renovation was designed to accommodate additional personnel following the closure of Station 18 and improve the building's living quarters.
Work included expanding and raising the living quarters for flood protection, reconfiguring interior spaces for accessibility and replacing exterior materials, according to the town's project page.
Construction began in January 2025 and finished in early summer 2026. The station remained active during the work.
Landscaping and a demonstration garden showcasing fire-safe practices are planned for spring 2027.
