Armed Robber Sought In Peninsula Hold-Up

SAN MATEO, CA — San Mateo police are asking for the public's help with identifying an armed robber from a recent hold-up in town. The man allegedly robbed two San Mateo residents about three weeks ago, but a sketch was just released on Monday.

According to the San Mateo Police Department, the crime happened on Oct. 14 around 7 p.m. as two residents were walking in the 400 block of North San Mateo Drive.

"When the officers arrived, they were told by the victims that as they walked on the sidewalk a man stepped out in front of them and told them to stop," police said in a news release. "While pointing a handgun at them, the man demanded property from the victims."

The man allegedly took some of their belongings and ran out of view.

Police described the man as Hispanic, in his 30s, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and 130 to 150 pounds. Police said the suspect was last seen in a gray hooded sweatshirt.
