Duo Poses as Magazine Solicitors, Steal Jewelry from Residence

A man and woman posing as magazine solicitors in the early evening hours on Saturday gained entry into a San Carlos residence and stole a substantial amount of jewelry, police said.

The San Carlos bureau of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office sent out an electronic warning to residents urging them to be cautious of unwanted solicitations.

Police said the duo gained entry into the house after one of the suspects asked to use the restroom. While inside, the theft took place.

“Please do not engage solicitors nor allow them into your residence,” said Officer Vincent Bedolla.
