PG&E Release List Of Most At Risk Pipelines; San Carlos Site To Be Evaluated

San Carlos site on Brittan Ave. and El Camino Real to be evaluated.

PG&E has released the Top 10 most at risk pipelines and a map of gas transmission pipeline planning segments in the Bay Area, following the fatal explosion in San Bruno.

In San Carlos, a 105 foot pipeline site exists on the corner of Brittan Ave. and El Camino Real. That site is high on the list to be evaluated by PG&E officials, according to the report.

According to the report, "PG&E is conducting an engineering review of the design materials of 105 feet of pipe near Brittan Ave and El Camino Real in San Carlos. Based on this review, PG&E will determine whether any repair or replacement action is warranted."

At the corner of Brittan Ave. and El Camino Real are a Shell gas station and a Jack In The Box restaurant. The site is across the street from the San Carlos CalTrain tracks. 

The map details pipelines throughout San Francisco and San Mateo Counties.

Other Peninsula lines that will be evaluated include an engineering review of 18 feet of pipe near Dunbarton Street and Donahoe Street in Menlo Park, an assessment for the potential for ground movement along 10 feet of pipe near Milpitas-Alviso Rd and Ranch Dr in San Jose, and an engineering review of 10 feet of pipe near Milpitas-Alviso Road and Ranch Drive in San Jose.
