Skanska Stretch and Flex for Ninth Annual Safety Week

More than 100 local construction workers – joined by some of Skanska’s executive staff – gathered at the PAMF job site in San Carlos to start their day off by participating in Skanska’s daily stretch-and-flex routine on Wednesday morning. Just like professional athletes stretch before exerting themselves on the field, construction crews for Skanska do the same before work every day. The program has led to a reduction in stress-related injuries and helps put workers in a mindset of working safely on site. Stretch and Flex is part of a series of pre-work activities designed to make sure every worker goes home safely every day. While stretch-and-flex is a daily activity, the week of May 13 marked the kick-off of Skanska’s 2013 Global Safety Week, the ninth consecutive year for the world’s largest workplace safety initiative organized by a company. In alignment with this year’s theme of learning and leading in safety, Skanska will focus on safety at worksites, and its vision of zero worksite injuries among employees, subcontractors and the general public. Skanska will issue daily safety tips and a safety video internally during the week. For more information on Safety Week and Skanska’s national safety activities, visit http://www.skanska.com.
