Theater social skills for middle schoolers

Team Friend, presented by the San Carlos Children’s Theater (SCCT) is now open for registration. The class will take place at Central Middle School in San Carlos on Thursdays from 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM beginning January 29, Feb 5, 12 (skip 19th), 26th, March 5, 12, 19.

Team Friend is offered to 6th - 8th grade students and uses video technology on iPads having students learn about and design scenes and skits based on relevant social skills, then film each other as they act out the concepts on stage or in the classroom. Team Friend encourages students to think creatively and utilize technology in telling their stories as they absorb the social skills lessons.

Accepting criticism

Expressing feelings

Self-advocacy

Self-control

Ignoring distractions

Setting goals

Helping others

Dealing with a bully

Making and maintaining friendships

Interacting with adults and teachers

Working in a group
