Youth Outreach Program Planned for High School Voter Education Weeks

The San Mateo County Elections Division is hosting the event.

REDWOOD CITY, CA – April 17 marks the start of High School Voter Education Weeks in California (April 17-28, 2017), and San Mateo County Elections Division is working to spread awareness and expand pre-registration outreach to engage and empower local youth.

“With pre-registration, sixteen and seventeen year olds can register to vote now, and become active voters on the day they turn eighteen,” said Mark Church, Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder. “Many people are not yet aware of pre-registration, and we’re excited to inform and engage with our students.”

The Elections Division is also working with local schools to reach students directly. If you are interested in having a registration table or an election outreach seminar at your school, contact your school administrators and they will work with the Elections Division.
