The 2nd annual Mission Viejo Film Festival will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017.

The 2nd annual Mission Viejo Film Festival will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the McKinney Theater at Saddleback College, 28000 Marguerite Pkwy., Mission Viejo from 12:30 pm to 8 pm. Parking is free in lots 10 and 12.

The festival showcases aspiring filmmakers in four categories: Music Videos, High School and College/Indie. Awards in four categories: Mark Jennings, Mayor’s, City of Hope and People’s Choice.

Not only does the film festival support filmmakers it also creates awareness of pediatric cancer. Cancer is the number one cause of death in children under the age of 15 years old, yet pediatric AIDS receives four times the funding.

Cancer also kills more children than AIDS, asthma, diabetes or cystic fibrosis put together.

The festival showcases aspiring filmmakers in three, 60-minute blocks that feature high school, music composition and college/indie. Films are less than 15-minutes and family-friendly.

After each film airs, there is a question and answer forum with the filmmaker. Viewers get an up-close, personal perspective of creating a film such as the inspiration, time constraints, casting, lighting, financial support and other aspects.

The schedule for the day is High School Films (12:30 – 1:30 pm); Music Videos (2-2:30 pm), College/Independent, Part I (3:30 pm – 4:30 pm) Part 2 (5:30– 6:30 pm). The award ceremony is at 7:30 pm.
