SAN CLEMENTE, CA — Authorities intercepted 122 pounds of cocaine on Interstate 5 near San Clemente, U.S. Border Patrol announced Sunday.
The interception was a joint effort between the federal agency and the California Highway Patrol.
“During highway interdiction operations, a CHP K9 alerted to a blue sedan,” according to a social media post from Border Patrol. “A search of the trunk revealed several bundles of drugs inside a trash bag and a large plastic bin.”
The narcotics were seized and the driver faces multiple state drug charges, the agency said.
