• Norte Fire now 75% contained after burning 7 homes in Orange County (ktla.com) — San Clemente residents are returning home as the 570-acre Norte Fire reaches about 75% containment after burning seven houses and threatening many more along the city's border with San Juan Capistrano. Fire crews remain on a 'seek-and-destroy' mission for hot spots, while city officials coordinate with county agencies to prepare for incoming rain and help affected families begin the rebuilding and permitting process.
• Start Of Norte Fire Under Investigation As OC Fire Crews Near Full Containment (patch.com) — San Clemente neighborhoods are recovering after the fast-moving Norte Fire forced evacuations of about 16,000 residents and damaged or destroyed seven homes while burning 570 acres. Firefighters now have the blaze nearly contained, and investigators are probing a reported SDG&E equipment outage minutes before flames were first spotted near Portico del Norte. Residents and local bikers shared harrowing stories of escaping the fire's rapid spread.
