SAN CLEMENTE, CA — The city's Monster Dash 5K and Creepy Crawl Fun Run will take place in downtown San Clemente on Saturday, Oct. 24, bringing morning races, costumes and family fun, according to the City of San Clemente.
The 5K starts at 8 a.m., and the Creepy Crawl begins at 9:30 a.m. The event is centered around the Community Center and downtown streets.
Drivers should expect closures as early as 4 a.m. The course area will be fully closed by 7 a.m. Most roads on the route are expected to reopen by 9:30 a.m., but some blocks on Del Mar between El Camino Real and Seville may remain closed longer.
Runners who sign up for the 5K receive a T-shirt, chip timing with immediate results, a pancake breakfast and a race packet. Creepy Crawl participants will receive a goody bag and pancake breakfast. Costumes are encouraged, with prizes for the fastest times and best outfits.
To help people get around, the city will detour traffic through downtown from 4 to 9:30 a.m., and run extra trolley service from 6 to 10 a.m. After 10 a.m., the Red Route trolley will continue to stop at the Community Center and the Outlets.
Registration and full event details are listed on the City of San Clemente's website.
