At the same time, Teamsters representing landfill workers overwhelmingly rejected the county's latest contract offer and are threatening to resume their strike, which could again disrupt self-haul trash, compost, and hazardous-waste drop-offs countywide.
• Residents Nextdoor to South OC Landfill Raise Red Flags Over Dirty Air and Debris (voiceofoc.org) — Neighbors near the Prima Deshecha Landfill, including San Clemente residents, are pushing back against plans to double daily trash tonnage, citing worsening dust, dirty air, and health concerns. County supervisors have already approved physical expansion but delayed increasing capacity after a wave of complaints and agency questions, leaving locals waiting to see how future decisions could affect their air quality, traffic, and neighborhood costs.
