Art Gallery Grand Opening and Anniversary Celebration!

The CRE8 Program at Clarence Lobo Elementary School will celebrate its fourth year with a Gallery Grand Opening and 20th Anniversary Celebration on Friday, June 12, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.

CRE8 has evolved into a year-long, popular arts adventure for Lobo students. The C stands for Creative; R for Right Brain, E for Expression and 8 for the eight creative sessions. The 2014-2015 program kicked off with a generous grant providing sketchbooks for every student. Figure drawing was followed by Collage, Veggie Pattern Stamping, Japanese Brush Paining, Picasso Self-Portraits, Watercolor Landscapes, and Sculpture.

The Gallery Grand Opening will feature an installation incorporating all students’ sculptures, along with a selection from all the works of art, as well as students’ sketchbooks.

Clarence Lobo Elementary School is celebrating its 20th year providing exemplary education to the children of San Clemente, CA. The school, founded in September 1994, is the only school in the United States to be named in honor of an American Indian, Clarence Lobo, longtime champion of tribal affairs and spokesperson for the Juaneño Indians.

“Lobo families love this little school, the kindest place in San Clemente. Our parent community and the staff of Lobo Elementary have proven themselves dedicated to providing the best possible learning opportunities for our children with emphasis on the arts and earth science,” says Christina Heal, PTA president.

The event will include Painting Craft, hosted by the Von Lortz Gallery. Family fun activities include Fun On The Run, San Clemente, chalk drawing, a Cake Walk, a spaghetti dinner Science Camp fundraiser, balloon and face painting. Students will also have the opportunity to paint a tile that will become a permanent installation commemorating the school’s 20th year.
