Body Found Near San Clemente High School

A search and rescue team looking for a missing 22-year-old man found a body in a flood control channel near the high school Saturday.

Members of an Orange County sheriff’s search and rescue team today found the body of a male in a flood control channel next to San Clemente High School but they have not called off their search for a missing 22-year-old last seen a week ago, an official said.

Nick Stevens, a landscape architect, was last seen in the area where the body was found Saturday.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue K9 team found the body at about 12:30 p.m. in the flood channel between a fast food restaurant and the baseball field of San Clemente High School, at 700 Avenida Pico, the sheriff’s department’s Carrie Braun said.

β€œThe incident is being handled as a suspicious death investigation, but a manner of death has not been determined,” Braun said.

β€œThe investigation into Stevens is ongoing until we can determine if he is the decedent,” Braun told City News Service.

Stevens was last seen Nov. 6 at the 7-Eleven at 1802 N. E Camino Real, she said. β€œSince that time, homicide investigators, Search and Rescue, and air support have worked together to locate Stevens.”
