Boulders Dislodge from Mariposa Beach Hillside After Rains

Large Boulders Dislodged This Morning From Steep Jagged Mariposa Hillside in San Clemente; OCFA Firefighters, USGS Responded to Emergency

(San Clemente, Ca) -

A 911-call this morning at 7:32 A.M. reporting a possible landslide turned out to be a few boulders breaking away from the slope of the Mariposa Beach hillside in San Clemente, said OCFA Captain PIO Larry Kurtz.

OCFA firefighters responded quickly to the scene in the 200 block of W Escalones.

Kurtz said no one was injured and no residential homes suffered any damage.

Kurtz said U.S. Geological Survey team members arrived on scene to assess the situation after OCFA firefighters secured the area.

USGS could not be reached for comment.
