San Clemente Brush Fire Burns Near Golf Course

A brush fire sent a column of smoke into the air in San Clemente near the Golf Course. Firefighters began an immediate assault on the blaze.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — A small brush fire broke out in San Clemente in the 200 block of Avenida La Pata, according to an Orange County Fire Authority spokesperson. About five acres of brush near power lines have burned.

The fire started just before 1 p.m. in the hills above the Bella Collina Towne and Golf Club in San Clemente, according to OCFA Capt. Jon Muir.

Firefighters battled the blaze both on the ground and in the air, surrounding and "making a good stop on it," Muir said. Helicopters worked an air attack with the assistance of the U.S. Forest Service large planes.
