Camp Pendleton Fire: Smoke Column Visible For Miles
Fallbrook residents smelled smoke from the fire which broke out on Camp Pendleton. The column of smoke seen for miles by surrounding cities.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — Smoke from the Camp Pendleton Basilone/San Mateo area could be seen for miles, Friday, in a fire that Camp Pendleton and North County Fire has said is not a threat to the district.
The fire began burning before 3:30 p.m. Friday, according to North County Fire.
"Drift smoke is visible, but the fire does not pose a threat," a North County Fire district spokesperson said. Residents reported seeing the smoke as far away as San Clemente, Temecula and Fallbrook.

There is currently a fire on Camp Pendleton in the Basilone/San Mateo area - currently at 50 acres. Drift smoke is visible in the area, but the fire does not pose a threat to the District.
