Car Slides Into Ravine In San Clemente, Injured Woman Airlifted

A car in San Clemente slid off the road and into a ravine, Wednesday. Orange County Fire Authority responded to the scene.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA —A vehicle slid into a ravine at Camino del Rio and Avenida La Pata in San Clemente, authorities said. Orange County firefighters responded to rescue the driver, a woman, who was trapped inside.

For unknown reasons, the black Volkswagen Jetta slid off the road and fell "a couple of hundred feet into the ravine," OCFA Capt. Larry Kurtz told Patch.

An OCFA rescue helicopter and the technical rescue team arrived on scene of the crash at approximately noon, and determined the most expedient way to get her out was to airlift her from the vehicle, Orange County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Carrie Braun said.
