On October 7, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) extended the fisheries closure 18 miles offshore down to the southern border of San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) – see attached map. This extension includes the San Clemente Municipal Pier and San Clemente shoreline. Therefore, effective immediately, fishing and shellfish harvesting will be closed from the pier and off the shore on San Clemente city beaches. The full CDFW directive can be viewed at www.socalspillresponse.com/fisheries-closure/.
San Clemente city beaches and water remain open to all other regular activities.
