Coastal Advisory Committee Meets On Sea Level Rise Vulnerability
The Coastal Advisory Committee will meet November 9 to discuss San Clemente's sea level rise vulnerability.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA - From the City of San Clemente: The public is invited to the Coastal Advisory Committee meeting on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 6:00 p.m., which will feature an informational presentation on the status of the City of San Clemente’s efforts to prepare a Sea Level Rise (SLR) Vulnerability Assessment (Study). This Study is part of the City’s ongoing Local Coastal Program (LCP) Update. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session. The meeting will be held at City Hall in the City Council Chambers located at 100 Avenida Presidio in San Clemente.
The City received a second LCP Planning Grant from the California Coastal Commission (CCC) in 2017 to continue efforts on the Land Use Plan Amendment that was initiated in 2014 and to prepare an SLR Study and the companion LCP Implementation Plan (IP). In the summer of 2017, the City initiated efforts to prepare the SLR Study which is based in part on the guidelines contained within the 2015 CCC Sea Level Rise Policy Guidance document. The basic steps of the SLR Study are anticipated to include:
- Identification and mapping of potential future sea level rise hazards;
- Assessment of the vulnerability of development and resources in the coastal zone; and,
- Development of a range of adaptation strategies/policies to minimize effects from SLR.
