The community came out in force to generously support San Clemente Aquatics annual charity swim, the SCA-a-Thon, with swimmers raising over $13,500 for the team and 263 pounds of food for the Family Assistance Ministries.
Around 140 kids, ranging in ages 5 to 18 years and up, participated in the event and worked hard to earn the necessary donations for their growing non-profit team. Each swam as many laps as they could in two hours, with many completing the maximum number of 200. That is equal to 5000 yards, or in other words, almost three miles per swimmer.
San Clemente Aquatics is a combination of swimmers just starting out, several Nationally ranked competitors and many kids in between. SCA is dedicated to youth development and all of the donations raised will go directly back to supporting them with incentives, fun team building events, coaches education and chances to host home meets that make the kids proud to represent their city, San Clemente.

During the event Stuft Pizza donated delicious slices of pizza to all of the athletes after their swims, and team volunteers collected non-perishable food for San Clemente’s local homeless prevention agency, Family Assistance Ministries. FAM is dedicated to providing a “hands-up” to those who find themselves in need, not just during the holidays but all year long.
