Do Your New Year’s Beginnings From the Inside Out

For decades I've made New Year's Resolutions that went something like this – I'll lose weight, eat healthier, exercise more . . . etc. I managed to make small improvements, but nothing that has lasted more than a few months.

Perhaps you've experienced this too. It just seems after a while I lose the will, or just get tired of trying.

So this year I've decided to try a new strategy. I'm going to work on the inside of me before I tackle the outside.

This year I'm resolving to be a better person.

1.     To look for the good in everyone.

2.     To care for others by doing for them.

3.     To treat each person in my life and that comes my way with kindness.

4.     To see beauty in each and every day.

5.     To pray more, and worry less.

6.     To be thankful for EVERYTHING!

7.     To say, "I love you" more often.

8.     To let go of old hurts and truly FORGIVE.

9.     To find time for the things and activities that brings me pure joy.

10.  To focus more on my strengths instead of my weaknesses.

I know this will probably be a lot harder than just losing weight and exercising more. It will take focus and thought, something I lack quite often. But I know that every good endeavor starts with the first step.

So, I'm stepping out. I'm gearing up. I'll ask God for help and do what I can, when I can to be the person I should be.

So, if I don't get that perfect body, or live to be 100, I believe I'll gain something far better.

I will be a blessing and spend more time seeing the good in people and in myself. That sounds like happiness to me.

Great legacies are not created over night – this will take a lifetime. I'll do my best to remind myself that sometimes a better world begins with me and the tiniest of victories can be so very sweet!
