Give Back To Camp Pendleton This Veterans Day In San Clemente
San Clemente Proud, a city-wide initiative, is calling upon the community to help Camp Pendleton families and marines.
SAN CLEMENTE, CA — The Kabul air bombing that killed 13 U.S. servicemen and servicewoman in late August garnered worldwide attention. In south Orange County, the horrific event was met with an outpouring of grief. Ten of the 13 soldiers who lost their lives were stationed in Camp Pendleton, and this Veterans Day, San Clemente resident Mark Zane wants to honor those who died in Kabul and provide assistance for military families affected by the tragedy.
This Thursday, local businesses in San Clemente partnered with Zane and pledged to donate a portion of their Thursday profits to Zane's nonprofit organization, San Clemente Proud. The money will be collected by the Heritage of San Clemente Foundation and directly distributed to families of the Camp Pendleton service members killed and wounded in Kabul through the San Clemente-based Marine Corps League South Coast Detachment.
Zane has the support of the City of San Clemente, who recently released a letter encouraging local businesses and community members to participate in this Veterans Day fundraiser.
