Health Care Roundtable To Be Held In San Clemente
San Clemente residents who wish to provide feedback about the city's health care landscape are encouraged to attend the event.
SAN CLEMENTE, CA — Are a San Clemente resident interested in providing feedback about the city's current and future health care landscape? The City of San Clemente is hosting a community roundtable for residents to voice feedback about how the city can move forward to ensure confidence in local health care options.
The community roundtable comes years after San Clemente's one service hospital closed in 2016, leaving residents at least 40 miles away from an emergency room.
The discussion swirling around whether or not to develop a new hospital in San Clemente was addressed at a "Meet the Experts" virtual panel held by the city April 9.

At the discussion, the pros and cons of developing a hospital within city limits were weighed out. City Councilmember Kathy Ward told Voice of OC that San Clemente needs at least one emergency room, and told the publication: "We are too many minutes from the nearest hospital."
Local officials also pointed out that the City of San Clemente has been seeking a suitable applicant to build a hospital in San Clemente for years, but none have come forward, Voice of OC reported.
