Jim Evert Will Not Run for Re-Election; Nominating Period Extended
The race for San Clemente City Council.

From Joanne Baade, San Clemente city clerk:
Because Jim Evert did not file nomination papers to seek re-election to the San Clemente City Council by today’s 5 p.m. deadline, the nomination period will be extended, pursuant to state law, to Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 5:30 p.m.
To date, Lori Donchak, Mikii Rathmann, Fred Olsen, Kathy Ward and Jim Dahl have filed their nomination papers and have qualified for the ballot.

Mayor Tim Brown filed his nomination papers today, but the Registrar of Voters has not finished reviewing the signatures on his nomination paper to determine if he received the 20 validated signatures necessary to qualify for the ballot.
Additionally, Robert A. Drust and Jeremy E. Schwartz have taken out nomination papers, but have not yet filed.
