Landslide Closes Beach Trail Boardwalk

From the City of San Clemente: The beach trail boardwalk between the El portal steps and Mariposa access will be closed indefinitely due to a recent landslide. Please note that is illegal and unsafe to walk along the railroad tracks. The appropriate detour would be el portal steps to Buena Vista and local streets back to Escalones and Mariposa for trail access.

Please be advised there is an active slide at Mariposa point directly adjacent to and above the beach trail. The beach trail boardwalk may be periodically closed for beach trail maintenance activity and for public safety. If barricades are posted at the boardwalk please do not enter the closed area. The public is advised to avoid this section of the beach trail until further notice.
